EVELYN ANCRUM | EDUCATOR FOR 35 YEARS | THE NAME BEHIND THE ORGANIZATION.

EAESSI commits to keeping the Passion of Evelyn Ancrum alive by honoring her passion
through the work of this nonprofit and through the lives of those empowered by EAESSI.

The Beginning

Evelyn "Evie" Ancrum was born in Charleston, South Carolina on November 15, 1939 to John and Louise Ancrum. She was one of eight children and the oldest girl. Evelyn always had a passion to work with children it may have stemmed from taking care of her younger siblings as a teenager.

Education & Career

After completing her Bachelor's degree in Education she worked as a substitute teacher while pursuing her Master's Degree in Education. Upon completing her Masters Degree, Evelyn started her career as a teacher with the Broward County School Board which stemmed over 35 years. In August of 2009, she passed away after a long fight against cancer.

Meet The Founders

Evelyn Ancrum Education Support Systems, Inc. (EAESSI) was founded to assist the community by providing scholarships and health awareness management. Meet the founders of the organization.

Tonja Ancrum

Executive Director & Co Founder

Tonja Ancrum is a 3-time, 27-year Breast Cancer Survivor. She is also a Breast Health Research Champion (BHRC) and a member of the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACSCAN). A BHRC has the ability to supplement breast health awareness sessions by educating the community on the importance of research and bio-specimen donation.

Tonja is a volunteer at Sentara and INOVA hospitals at the breast cancer support center as a Survivor Offering Support (SOS) Mentor.

Keith Ancrum

President & Founder

Keith is the son of Evelyn Ancrum, like his mother he is an advocate for continuous learning.

By founding EAESSI this is allows Keith to continue to empower men and women by investing in their future education which impacts tomorrow.

He served in the United States Army for 25 years providing him the opportunity to coach, teach, and mentor future leaders within the military and civilian sector.
